What is the Difference between CBAP and CCBA?
Though both the certifications are offered by IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis) and are entitled to determine the expertise in the field of business analysis, following are few differences between CBAP and CCBA examinations.
(i) In CBAP examinations, the candidates are posed with questions on business analysis that are mostly ‘situation-based’ whereas in CCBA examinations, the candidates will face fact-oriented and knowledge based questions.
(ii) CBAP will help the business analyst professional to get recognized by the employer for their potential to enhance their salary. CCBA would help the business analysts to showcase their skills and ability to take responsibility of bigger tasks.
Differences in terms of eligibility:
Work Experience – In order to apply for CBAP examination, the candidate must possess at least 7500 hours of working experience over the last ten years but CCBA demands only 3750 hours of working experience over the past seven years.
Education – You must have acquired the minimum of high-school diploma or any other equivalent to apply for both CCBA or CBAP examinations.

Differences in terms of cost of examination:

Though the application cost is similar for both non-IIBA member and IIBA members, the examination fee differs for these candidates.

Fee - IIBA Members - IIBA members can attend CBAP or CCBA exam at the cost of $325.

Fee – Non-IIBA Members - $450 is the cost of attending CCBA exam or CBAP exam for a non-IIBA member.

Differences in terms of expiration of the certification:

The CBAP certification will not expire if it is renewed regularly and the frequency of re-certification is every 3 years. The CCBA certification will expire automatically after 5 years.
